Introduction: Rudolph Virchow
-Rudolph Virchow is considered one of the 19th century’s foremost leaders in medicine and pathology.
-He was a public health activist, social reformer, politician, and anthropologist.
-Greatest Accomplishment: observation that a whole organism does not get sick- only certain cells or groups of cells
-In 1855 he discovered that every cell stems from another cell; using this fact, he launched the field of cellular pathology.
-He is often refered to as "the principal architect of the foundations of scientific medicine".
